How to make English Oat Flapjacks easy recipe. http://www.myjewishhome.com Watch as Meg Stone shows us how to make the perfect batch of Flapjacks for her son's school bake sale. This easy to follow recipe produces perfect flapjacks every time. While Meg doesn't follow a standard recipe, she has given quanties on her website. However, it's all about eye-balling quanties with flapjacks, it's about texture and appearance.
What you'll need:
1/2 cup butter
2 tbls cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Golden Syrup
1-2 cup rolled oats
01:20 Pour the syrup into a pan with the butter and simmer on a low-medium heat, and stir consistently so the mixture doesn't burn.
02:15 When the butter has melted, add the brown sugar and continue to mix.
02:45 When the sugar has dissolved, add the oats and combine. Keep adding oats until you achieve a solid but moist texture that will form on your spoon.
04:22 Grease a baking tin and pour in the oaty mixture. Grease a ziplock bag and press the oats into the pan so they are flat.
Place in a preheated oven for 15 minutes or until you can smell the beautiful aroma or the edges begin to brown.
05:57 Pop the flapjack out of the tin and leave to cool for 30 minutes.
06:19 Slice into squares and stack up on a plate.

These look amazing Meg...and surprisingly adaptable to Gluten Free cooking (as long as the oats are GF). Thank you for the heads up about the beetles (eww :-p) I had no idea. Funny flapjacks are pancakes in the US and what you got there is almost like what we would call granola bars! Either way, Yum! :-)
