it is the future but it isn't nearly as godly as you think it is. the image quality on the originally unfocused part of the photograph is terrible. thus really defeating the purpose of a "memorable" photo. this is something that will be cool for the first 2 weeks and won't be used afterwards.. the technology is great, but there needs to be more work done to it.

@tornato7 more than 2...i know i am a bit of a hater too..its what it does that will make this shit sell...when everybody in the room is telling you to shut-up...that's what you just got to do...i know how this bs work..i even came up with my own mechanical version that display 3D hologram in real time...so i will shut up and wait my turn...when millions of lytro sells..i cant say shit..because that's what is all about, get people interest and make billions...

It measures where the light is coming from. With that data the software is able to "calculate" the different focus settings.
