Never understood why they chop dogs tails off?

Of course not! poor dogs, the docking is just pure cosmetic reasons; people that are pro-docking said: "a thief is goin to grab it by the tail, is they weakness" but other dogs used for guading don't have docked tails like mastiffs and german shepherds.

"or a cow is goin to step on the tail" but they are many breeds usied for guarding cattle don't have a docked tail like the marremano and great pyreness.

Or "if the dog have an accident and it breaks the tail, is goin to suffer more if it has a operation later to remove it, so they are docked at birt"

but if this is the supposed real reason, they why they don't dock the tails of all breeds? it dosen't have any sence, is only a bunch of excuses.

Is a good thing they change the FCI standar of the rottweiler, now it dosen't mention the possibility of docking.

I like how they look whit the tail.

*broad smile* I apologize for being so hardcore in my anti docking beliefs but I'm sure if a species evolved with a higher intelligence than ours decided that humans don't look right with thumbs, or was a potential threat to ourselves with what we were capable of doing with our thumbs, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't allow our thumbs to go just because they say so. (If we could communicate to them.)

No body part is useless, if it is then you lose it naturally, I thought.

I had a rottie with a tail; personally it is easier to read how he felt, I've learned there were different wags for each situation. But they are cute without it too.

Docking is cruel and almost always done without anaesthetics, which causes great pain to the puppy as the tail is full of nerve-endings, and don't say the puppies are too young to feel it or they wouldn't scream in pain.

Also, do some research before degrading castration like that. Unlike docking, there are some good medical reasons for castration. It helps prevent certain types of cancer, and the dog normally lives longer.

Get your facts straight.
