Tuning: DGDGAE

I like arranging music for the guitar that hasn't been done before. 'The Snowman' animated film from 1982 was a fond part of my childhood Christmas memories. That hauntingly beautiful melody is still one of my favorites, so I decided to turn it into a solo guitar piece.

Anyone who has tried to arrange an orchestral piece for the guitar knows how difficult it can be. What parts to leave in, leave out and how to play those 3 or 4 parts at the same time, etc. It's always a compromise, but here I tried to capture the feel of the music rather than exact notes, with mixed success.

The music is available on iTunes or in Europe on the Wonderland Records compilation 'Christmas Unplugged'.

  • this movie was a major part of my childhood and so is guitar and i love what you did with it. Did you ever think of making a tutorial or walk through for this beacuase i would love to learn how to play it.

  • @StarBlood22 I think I've forgotten how to play most of it, so I don't see a tutorial coming anytime soon, but check out my Advanced Fingerpicking and Strumming Lessons on my YT page, and feel free to subscribe! :^)

  • You should get a studio recording done. That would make an excellent track.

  • This song always touched me deeply, whenever I saw the film. I like your version of it, so soft and calm... worth recording it! ~ Crystal
