@n74jw Yeah, for F14s. They probably sent one to Russia, who parted it out and, as you say, reversed engineered the thing.

@Capt777harris Parts for F-14's? Either that or the skills necessary to reverse engineer the parts they do have. I would not discount Chinese assistance here.

Idiot,MiG-31 is not fighter,so he had no need for dogfight. (idiot).
He is interceptor-has great top speed,only plane in world that can travel by speed 2,3M for half an hour,and had excelent optoelectornic with range of 40km,and R-33 missile,wich has outstanding range of 160 km in version R-33A/B/E up to enourmus 228km in version R-33S.

@poyanator Well yeah, Iran made their own plane, even tho it is not an amazing plane they made it on their own while having an embargo on anything that could help them make weapons but they still do good stuff considering that. On the other hand, Most of the Arabic countries just take down their pants and day do whatever you want with us. I think Iranians would be ashamed if anyone made their country just a supply store and turned them into slaves. Arab leaders only care about money, Iran's not.

Mig-31 is ancient man. Only thing it is good for is going fast n a straight line. Trying to put the mig-31 in a dog fight against the f-16 is just pure suicide.
Su-47 was only a technology demonstrator. Only 1 was ever built. There are no planes for it to see production.
