Saturday November 20, 2010, saw the return to service of 1951 vintage Alco Diesel Locomotive 4001, withdrawn from service in 1971, has been re-commissioned after a lengthy restoration project, and painted in its 1954 Royal Train livery. It is seen working with 1975 Vintage Alco diesel 44211, which was never possible in regular service as the 40 Class were trade-ins for the 442 class, and were not compatible with any other class of Diesel Locomotive. Preservation has made more things possible.
