I mean to say "Puerto Rican Amateur Baseball team's manager"

Roberto Clemente was Puerto Rican indeed. He came to Nicaragua in the earlier part of December 1972 as the Puerto Rican Amateur Baseball team to participate in the World Amateur Baseball Championship hosted by Nicaragua. After learning about the earthquake in Managua, he chartered a plane to bring supplies to help Nicaraguans affected by the disaster. His plane crashed in the Caribbean for unknown reasons and a baseball star was lost at that time.

My mother was 13 years old at the time. I cannot imagine how scare she was after this tragedy and everything else that followed. Nicaraguans have suffered so much.

@hauiti323: it is without a doubt that many of the citizens in Nicaragua are not active in the political tribulations; however, the earthquake undoubtedly affected Nicaragua's economic stability. before being able to even remotely recover from the disastrous earthquake, nicaragua experienced a violent revolution that expelled Somoza from power, and, shortly after, the Contra-Sandinista war. The earthquake was one of the major events in the second half of the century that caused devastating harm.

My mom was there too :(
Thank God For my Mom
She brought us here!
I am 100% Puerto Rican.....
But I've visited Nicaragua 3 times and I love it. Love the food, the lakes, the volcanos, Granada, Miramar, SJ de Sur, Boaco, Managua, ALL of it....
But the problem is not only the Government, but also the people. The ons with power and money, the ones with voice, don't stand p for what is right!!!!
38 years later, some blame this earthquake still for the problems in Nica....I love the country, but the selfishess and cowardness is killing the country.
