The Movie Loft was amazing - special events, theme weeks, important/historical films, always with Dana Hersey's outstanding commentary (I wonder what's become of him). Years later I took several film courses and always got "How do you know so much about film?" Channel 38 four nights a week, bro.
Loft is different but you will like the characters, not one second bores you except maybe the knife combat which takes a bit too long. I especially enjoyed the Düsseldorf bar and the Casino scene. Great cinematography.I Watched The Movie Here BigOnlineMovies . c o m
You sat down and watched Movie Loft with a a big bowl of spaghetti if you were alone or popcorn/pizza if not. And beer. Anybody remember the annual New Year's Eve 3 Stooges Marathons ("and we're gonna throw in a couple of Shemps)
It wasn't before cable, it was just before everyone decided that it was OK for the FCC to legislate morality. I know, I know...how dare they show adult-oriented content long after any small children will be asleep.
growing up in Massachusetts, I watched Dana every Saturday afternoon. Watch a lot of good movies...I remember the Movie Loft tune and the spiral staircase. God this brings me back!
This was the best uhf channel. Love the jingle. Most of the movies that were shown were unedited, Carrie, The Deer Hunter, Rocky. Good ol' days before cable.
you know, I think Dana Hersey and the Movie Loft was the Model for AMC and TCM. It was a very unique Idea to give us a little detail about the movies we were about to watch. So cool! I really miss it. Boston had the Best TV before cable.
I grew up in Southern NH in the 70's and 80's and I remember watching WSBK TV 38 often. I remember watching The Movie Loft with Dana Hersey many times.
Dana can be heard on WRKO in Boston. I have a ton of old stuff from his WSBK days.
