  • too bright.....very immature vowel sound. no warm quality to the sound at all...therefore the blend is a MESS.

  • one big mistake they made, they all dropped a half step, theres no pronunciation in vowels, some areas they are supposed to speed up and then go back to normal, overall i was not impressed with this song and it sounded more like a high school choir than a college choir this song needs a lot more practicing if it is to be perfected

  • what ever happened to vowels? When it comes to sound, I hear a college level choir, but when it comes to vowels, I hear middleschool. Sorry, just being honest. While doing so, I will admit, my choir could probably NEVER do this song as we are right now.

  • Please don't bash Dr. Loeppky like that. He is an EXTREMELY talented conductor and musician who has absolutely turned this choir around in the short time he has been there. Also keep in mind that at this time I believe we had a grand total of maybe 10 vocal majors in the entire choir. Stop finding stuff to pick at and appreciate it for what it has accomplished, not what didn't meet your uneducated expectations.

  • This choir failed to realize that and was blasting the whole thing out. Very little contrast was found in the dynamic range of the performance and there were even moments where it felt like the sections were battling each other.

  • This is not indicative of anyone but the conductor; these students could have sang this just fine if they had a conductor reign them in during rehearsals. Unfortunate.

The beautiful thing about this Whitacre is that its singable. If you are intelligent and talented, (which most top-tier university ensembles are) then singing this becomes about blending and not vocal talent.

  • there was a great alabama prep school that came to sing at our college (UT-San Antonio) recently. So, apparently, Alabama produces talented ensembles. But, this is a very loud and unblended performance, particularly from the bass section.

  • While I understand the circumstances you guys were under.1.yes there were great elements to this song (like the begginning) however the amount of concentration that it takes to sing 8 min of whitacre is exhausting and when you are only having a few people to help support you in comparison to a mass choir you all tended to flat and get lazy with your vowels....overall though the performance wasn't bad cograts on completing a hard azz song......

  • Some pitch probs...
