What kind of country do u want to live in where a question can't be asked of the President? And, why do u think the President should pick and choose what questions he feels like answering? I wish all politicians should be asked tough questions and be held accountable. If you make a mistake at work that is really bad you get fired, but politicians are immune? They just say "opps" blame it on the "system" when they are the system and no one is held accountable.

Was a stupid thing to say--period (what Obama said). They were just trying to do their job. Why didn't he cooperate with them? Why did he blow this out of proportion? If u saw a white man breaking into a residence, wouldn't you call the cops? Media thrives on crap like this. That way it sells and they can further divide our country. People think that whites are always racist and always wrong, but when blacks "act a fool" it's acceptable. "Can't we ALL (blacks and whites) just get along"?

I would like to say that Prof Gates was arrested like any other person could have been when acting suspiciously around premises.
Whether or not it was racially motivated I don't know, but Obama was out of line in criticising the CPD straight off. But of course, lovie2000 won't see beyond the factor of race.

And HELL NO, Obama doesn't owe CPD an apology. He was right! Crowley wasn't acting with common sense. He didn't apologize to Prof. Gates for gang'busting into his home after he'd proven with two forms of ID that HE is the occupant of the home. What a duffus.

I don't know why people always turn everything into a race issue...... I don't recall that I turned this into a race issue, I simply stated that he didn't owe the police department an apology for saying "they acted stupidly"
As for Gates, he did show his I.D.
