This song is not a nod at Lurker at the Threshold - Lurker at the Threshold is a nod to the earlier concept of the Dweller on the Threshold, which obviously influenced Lovecraft. The idea is like one of your previous life's energies failed to dissipate normally, and decides to come back and try it's best to take it's vessel back from you. Doppleganger. It's a nightmarish concept, and not at all out of line with the sort of madness inducing wrongness of which Lovecraft wrote.
@NinjaRunningWild Well that's the thing, I did do my own web research, unlike you.
The only references I can find to the song all say it refers the esoteric concept, nothing linking it to Lovecraft.
I just wanted to give you a chance to present some facts, as you were so kind to give me one. But "web searches" which you use to back yourself up yield no results. If I didn't know better I'd swear you were talking out of your ass.
@EimhinMacGabhan You can do your own web searches. His other songs probably have their own basis. But your attempts at logic are cute. I'm sure your parents are very proud. Please proceed. I'm very amused.
@NinjaRunningWild I wasn't aware there was a general consensus. I'd much appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of whoever it is decides these things. I'd be interested in hearing their opinions on some of his other songs.
@EimhinMacGabhan Are you capable of doing anything but imitating what I say? The general consensus is that this was based on Lovecraft, not Blavatsky.

If Joe Satriani had a collection of CD's with all of his songs that are epic, incredible, beautiful or moving, it would be 13 albums long.
