St. John Vianney Catholic Church was set on fire by an arsonist and was burned to the ground, early Saturday morning.

I dedicate this video to my friends, neighbors and fellow disciples of Christ and may they find comfort in Jesus Christ. The church will rebuild!

Let the Church Rise, Lyrics

Verse 1:
We are alive, filled with Your glorious light
Out of the dark into Your marvelous light
We are waiting with expectation
Spirit, raise us up with You

Chorus:
Let the church rise from the ashes
Let the church fall to her knees
Let us be light in the darkness
Let the church rise, let the church rise

Verse 2:
Moving with power, bringing Your name to the earth
Singing Your praises, lifting up glorious songs
We are moving with His compassion
Spirit, raise us up with You

Bridge:
Let Your wind blow, let Your wind blow, let Your wind blow, revive us again Lord

  • Thank you so much. This parish, and the church building held many memories for me. My sister made her First Communion & Confirmation here. Another sister was married here. I remember sitting in this lovely church for Masses, a funeral, and the Easter Vigil. Easter morning 17 years ago, I sat between my youngest sister, and boyfriend. The sun streamed in; I felt that I was in the perfect place, between the 2 of them. I knew then that I wanted to spend my life with him. We've been married 16 yrs

  • We can't forget to pray for the arson who caused this catastrophe; they must have some serious issues with Christ.

  • My family has been part of the parish since 1969. I played in the guitar Mass. I called bingo numbers at Early Cal days. My mom and dad have been involved in so many events and organizations. Mom's funeral was there. Dad at 85 still works at the food bank and for the Esperanza House. My wife and I now live in Mexico, but have been watching from afar with broken hearts. Thanks for posting this. The spirit is still the wonderful people of the church!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. My dad was the music director there from 1983 to 1995, when we moved. SJV is a very special place and we were heartbroken when we heard the news. We watched this video the other night and my mom and dad and I all just cried :-(

  • Hello, My name is Rodolfo López. I work for Oregon Catholic Press in Portland, OR. We heard about the tragedy at St. John Vianney. Back in 1997 el Coro de Los Angeles performed a concert with Steve Grundy as the music director. The entire concert can be found on on my youTube page rudypdx. We will keep the community of St. John Vianney in our prayers. Thank you, Rudy

  • I am seriously mad. I mean that is my church. mmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy church,

MESSAGE TO ALL CHURCH GO ERS: *Continue to go to St. John Vianney church. Dont let the person or persons who did this get what they wanted. They obviously wanted to hurst us by burning it down... But if we continue our faith in God, and still go to mass and take communion, and build the church in our hearts, keep a strong faith. Then they will not get what they wanted. We won.
