The fact that the atoms of our bodies were forged inside of stars, and that the explosive deaths of ancestral stars seeded the galaxies with complex elements, is an understanding born of modern science. It is also an understanding that helps us relate to the vast cosmos in a familial way, and that comforts us with the awareness that death is a natural and creative part of the universe. Human created synthetic life. We are a century or two from really tweaking our own make up. A time will come when certain DNA implants just after fertilising a human egg will become a standard procedure like vaccination is today.

We only have the illusion of a free will. Very soon we will be able to tell with high probability what would become of a person before they are born given their inheritance and the environment they grow in. Science is the new GOD.
