Animals (puppies, kittens, trutles, birds and bunnies) are DYING IN SANTEE ALLEY. This is just ONE of MANY buns that were impossible to save because they were taken away from their moms too soon. This is HOW they die when people purchase them as "miniature" "dwarf" bunnies not knowing that they are simply UNWEANED babies, 7 - 10 days old who will die without proper care.

Disclaimer: Please note that the "Lucky Bunny" has been seen by the BWF vet, and has been given the proper medication including the pain meds. The BWF staff / volunteers were instructed what to give to ease the suffering. This little baby was delivered to BWF 90% dead the day it died. We were unable to save it due to the fact that the baby was fed lettuce and carrots, which is deadly in case of the 7 - 14 days old bun.

Improper diet and lack of colostrum from mother's milk is often the cause of deadly coccidia - once the bacteria invades the liver, there is NO hope.

At least in the hands of the BWF volunteers, the baby bunny got the pain meds which is NOT the case when these buns are bought by the general public. They die a SLOW death that can last for hours.

Either way, the babies seizure...and there is no way around it unless they are heavilly drugged and have no energy to fight.

May Lucky Bunny rest in peace!

  • I know your trying to help these poor animals but to wait for this anmal to die and video it is quite disgusting. If you care for these animals soo much why do you prolong their deaths? you say you gave them medicine and pain relief was that administered by a registered vet? I think that any vet that saw the way that animal was suffering the kindest way would of been to put in out of its misery not to wait for it to die and gasp for breath in a bathroom

  • @lisa33476 - this is the best our volunteer could do, short of taking the bunny to the emergency room & having it euthanized at 4 am or so (time/$) 1) this viideo was shot 2.5 years ago 2) our success rate now is 99% 3) this is what happens, w/out medication EVERY DAY to the babies that are bought by a regular Joe in Santee Alley who thinks he bought a 3 month old dwarf bunny. This video is to demonstrate what happens to them in 100s of homes homes daily, to deter people from buying babies.

  • @BunnyWorldFoundation -- For a lucky few who find us in time while the babies are still alive, we provide a protocol on how to properly take care of them. Others turn to us for advice and consolation. For more information about BWF and its efforts to stop animal cruelty in Downtown Los Angeles, please visit the News Section of BWF Website

  • @lisa33476 - BWF has taken in 1500 un-weaned baby bunnies since June 2008. We have an open door to the community and are eager to assist all unaware buyers who are lured into buying unweaned baby animals that in most cases die within a few days of purchase as they are not old enough make it without mother’s milk. The death of these animals causes a lot of distress for new bunny owners and their children, not to mention significant vet bills.

  • i bought a bunny there and i am sad to say he is trying to fight for his life and i dont know what to do..... his name is Bugz B.(Bugz Bunny) R.I.P.

  • @JaccyDiamonds27 It's unfortunate.... :(
