@glencollie, amazing story there. my bro was a sound man for film and also has recounted some great memories.
if lenny wasn't "french canadian", his mother certainly was. i watched the 7-part doc by his daughter, uploaded by "standardsam". his mother speaks with an unmistakable french canadian accent. also, her way of looking at things, warmth and generosity of spirit exemplifies all that is so great about french canadian culture. so even if he wasn't, his core, his nest, was. cheers
Lenny was from Maine - he lived in WInnipeg - he had a daughter with the woman in this song. The daughter did an excellent documentary that you can find in pieces online.
Lenny was born in the USA, but lived most of his life in Winnipeg. (His dad was Hal Lone Pine) My memory is a little hazy, but I think I did lighting for this programme. I certainly worked on hundreds of shows with Lenny in the 60s and 70s.
The singer who does "Gotta Move" may be Karen Marklinger, according to the Lenny Breau biography. I prefer hers to Streisands, by far. Judi Singh does "Downtown" with her at the start of the clip.
