This instrument, from the Ektar or Ektara family, is also known as Goiyantra or Khamak.
This is a folkloric Indian instrument, very popular in Bengal.
The Gopichand is both a rhythm and melodic instrument.
It is very much used in the Baul dance, to sing traditional songs, and, in other regions, to sing mantras.
It usually accompanies instruments such as the Kartal, the Dotar and the Khol.
It is said to be one of the oldest and most primitive Indian instruments.
Measures: 76 cm x 14 cm / 30 x 5.5
