Jean Carne is credited with an amazing 5 octave voice. Like the late great Minnie Riperton, Jean also studied opera. This great but sadly, underappreciated cover of Minnie's 'Completeness', shows Jean's astounding interpretation skills as well as her ability to transcend to stratospheric heights.

  • I'm looking for a song by Ms. Carne which I think is called "All I Ever Need Is You". Anybody has that song? Thanks.

  • Hi anaklai2, as you requested, I have now uploaded that song. The correct title is, 'All I Really Need is You.' Enjoy.

  • iriear !!! EXPONENTIAL THANK YOU for this post....I have always loved minnie's "Come To My Garden" LP....(LP?...yes, i'm over 40)...Didn't know the great Jean Carne covered this...you taught me something, & I'm grateful !

  • You are most welcome. You know Jean is into quality and this song is of such that she had to cover it on her only Motown album 'Trust Me.'

  • Both ladies versions are exceptional! Minnie's version was done in what can be called a pop/opera mode (I guess Minnie precedes Sarah Brightman as popera queen), while Jean is done in a jazz/funky mode. There4 both are for different audience at different times. Both versions are GREAT!!!

  • THANK YA! Been asking for SOMEONE to post this song, I had only heard a snipet of it and knew the Riperton's version. I'm not disappointed!

  • HELL YEAH!!

  • Wow thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you for shearing, FLAWLESS !

  • Ms. Carne is incredible singing this song. Minnie Riperton woud have been proud.

  • Jean Carne is incomparable. As a young girl, my dad exposed me to the whole Norman Connors family of artists of which she, Phyllis Hyman, Michael Henderson and other greats were a part of. Knowing music like this, it's hard to listen to what's put out in today's market. If you like this song, you've got to hear her collaboration with Norman Connors entitled "Butterfly". It will blow you away.

  • Wow.... heavenly beautiful song!! She did a great cover of Minnie's classic gem.

  • From the overlooked classic "Trust Me" lp, this Jean Carn classic collection is still not released on CD...this heavenly gem is awesome! Bravo Jean and you are incredibly great!!!
