Leno is a sociopathic selfish weasel who is literally souless and literally wants to be the only comedien and talk show host.
He would rather have Late night die with him than have anybody else do a show.

Carson never really cared for Leno. Note that Carson went on Letterman in 1995 and never appeared on Leno. Also, Leno never even mentioned Carson once in his first episode as host. You'd think he'd have thanked him at least once.
