1952 -- The beauty and functionality of asbestos sidewalls. With a visit to Levittown, N.Y. and an interview with Norman Denny, vice president of materials for Levitt & Sons, builders. An excellent film on Fifties standardized building processes.
True, asbestos cement sidewalls are particularly long-lasting and, left in good condition, they're not friable. However, I've seen some shingles of this stuff that's all stained and cracked...I'd be a little concerned then.
The housing boom in the 50's & 60's led to sturdy houses which many still stand today. And if you happen to purchase one of those houses from the 60's, fear not the asbestos. The aluminum electrical wiring in the walls will kill you long before the asbestos. And if the wiring holds up, the fuse panel will burn the house down.
i live in a area of the the USA where all the houses are old and all of them have asbestos insulation... i live in a asbestos house too its just something you live or die with.
weird this guy sounds like sean connery trying to speak without a scottish accent, does anyone agree that the narrator sounds like he's hiding some kind of a lilt? listen to how he says "stone."
