  • But other than sliding "apps" (apple term) "not programs" What does it do for me that's worth wild?

Tiles are better than icons? Never its stupid and uninspired, more for mobile than a computer. Imaging editing video on this thing. What a nightmare it seems to be. This is just another gimmick from our good friends at M$.

  • @Gryever12 hmm... Tiles are better than icons for any 7"-9" tablet, too... (IMHO)

And You may use Normal (Classic) desktop mode for any 30" display of desktop PC... M$ allows it. It's Windows 8, not Windows 7. Oh, it's ...TRANSFORMER. ;)

  • Listen carefully to what she says, To be "excellent" for touch-only tablets, and to work "well" with a mousse and keyboard.

  • @fruitzy101 yes, excellent :) just buy Microsoft Touch Mouse and "enjoy all touch-frieindy features" ;)

but... any keyboard is always keyboard -- it's normal, for XP, 7 or 8 (no way). IMHO :)

  • @mediaexplorer74 well, honestly that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. I'll definitely consider that idea. Then that way you still get the user experience of the o.s., but not as much control with the touch-made apps.

  • @fruitzy101 i don't like touch the screen of my notebook (it's so clean if touchless)). you too? ;) maybe, normal notebook + xp = user experience of the o.s.? and normal keyboard and mouse (not touchpad) - for old ugly apps like AUTOCAD 2010... or CorelDraw or PowerPoint 2010.. etc... i really don't know, why win8 will be good... if it's not for business?....

  • Windows 8 will work with Touch tablets, Regular desktops and laptops without touch, Regular netbooks. Across resolutions...

If Microsoft can live upto this promise, then Ipad, will be renamed as iFail. Seriously think about it :

If I can have a tablet that is 10", I can use it in "Tablet" mode while on Road, when I reach the office, I hook it to a big monitor with keyboard and mouse. One device, can be used for consuming media as well as creating media. Please MSFT, don't fuck it.

  • XP was good

    win7 is good

    win8 will be good

  • @Gryever12 "All am saying, I have had bad experiences with Windoze and i hate them for it. " Now we are getting to the core of the issue. You are just bashing to bash it, like a little troll.

I don't mind people being a bit biased, by what's the use of infering false information? Your desktop will work, just like it always did. 5th time I informed you of this.

  • @Gryever12 "it's not even a RC let alone a beta" What do you expect to change between now and then which would result in desktop applications working completely differently then today? Are you even thinking these comments through?

"you want a demonstration on how it would be different" No, just an explanation of why you think it will be different then how it is today? The desktop is there in the preview and it's exactly the same as ever. So what's your problem?

  • @ScientificBob bottom line is you love them I hate them, we can still be friends Sci-Bob, what do you say?

  • @ScientificBob it's not even a RC let alone a beta and you want a demonstration on how it would be different?

we both dont know that. It's why I said lets agree to disagree to squash this. All am saying, I have had bad experiences with Windoze and i hate them for it. Now you like it, it gets the job done for you. More power to you Sci-Bob. Now Mac and Linux (ubuntu and Fedora) have been awesome in my experience with them even after a fresh install. This new tile thing seems like a gimmick to me.

  • @Gryever12 "But since you just wanna to WIN on youtube " It seems to me that that is more your problem then mine. You said "imagine doing X on this" and I informed you that X would in fact be exactly the same on win8 compared to what X is today on 7. There is no difference at all.

If you are going to claim that there is, then demonstrate how it would be different. But you don't. You can't. Because you are wrong. And unwilling to admit it for some strange reason. Probably e-peen.

  • @Gryever12 "I am informed and if am not according to you, then enlighten me"

I did. You said, and I quote, "Imaging editing video on this thing. What a nightmare it seems to be". I informed you that it, in fact, would be exactly the same on 7 as it will be on 8. So you ARE uninformed and I DID enlighten you. I don't know what else you can expect from me.

  • @Gryever12 "Then what's the new benefit of windows 8?" This makes no sense. The win desktop is a platform on which you run your applications. Vista, 7, 8 are fully compatible. Did 7 not have advantages over vista? There's plenty of improvement on the PLATFORM, under the hood. Your applications are your applications - they are what they are.
