@CrypticCRICKET That makes sense.
Even though two bows might show the same poundage at full draw using a scale, if one is more flexible and can return to its shape faster it will send the arrow out with greater velocity.

@SuperHockeymaster8 This is the easiest solution IMO: buy a real bowstring that's about the right length and then build your bow to fit that string.
If you have a real boat store nearby Especially a sailing boat store, they will have low stretch 1/8" double diamond braid cord and probably in Dacron as well.
Other options are 1/8" sash cord and 200 lb test Dacron planer board line like you find at Bass Pro Shop or other fishing tackle suppliers.

It's important to understand the performance differences between proven technology like traditional bow designs and unproven designs like the PVC pipe bow. In survival It's important to conserve energy and time. Understanding the limitations of a tool might put more meat in your belly faster with less energy expended
I've also built a 49 lb draw weight PVC pipe bow. It doesn't penetrate as well as either of the tradition wood bows. There's a note included during the video. PVC = less velocity
