I have all tge characters and you get them not by doing mission mode but in the single player battle with each character in the end of the battles you might get to fight a.new character if you beat them you get the character and yes itachi is the best in the game

I've done all the missions on genin and chunin, and about about have of them on jonin, but the only new characters its given me are guy and kankuro!
