Americans want it all, and the British delegate. The Royal Family does the ribbon cutting and public relations kind of thing, and the Prime Minister does the politics. Americans want an accessible President, but one that travels all over a pretty big country doing things like eating hot dogs and opening nuclear plants and then do the whole political thing. The Royal Family is a relief to Americans because no one has to worry about the Queen's reelection. She's not going to lose her job.
