is the neck premade or did you make your own?

Great tone! I'm assuming you modeled this bass after the Havlena upright washtub? If so, did you install the bass bar's flat side or its tapered side against the soundboard? The former method would result in a flat soundboard - the latter would result in an outward-bowed soundboard. I am curious how other bass builders are approaching this, as I plan to construct my own. Thanks, and great bass!

How do you make one? Sorry if the question is stupid.

Do some more!

I'm impressed by the tone of your tube. Its one of the few on you tube with a discernable tone! I'm working on a similar bass using a #3 oval tub. It would help me to know what you're using for strings, and what is the distance from bridge to nut on your instrument, and do you tune it in standard bass tuning: E A D G, or are you using a higher tuning. When I get this thing finished, I'll share info about it in a youtube post. Thanks a lot!

@d13cat Hi, they're the Innovation Rockabilly strings. The distance is standard 3/4 size, we believe. The tuning is standard bass tuning EADG. The size of a 3/4 bass is what we copied. Love to see your project! Good luck!

What strings are you using? Regular bass strings or Weed Whacker line?
ArkRed1 1 month ago
@ArkRed1 Hi, we use the Innovation Rockabilly strings, made in England. The weed whackers don't have volume and don't give a good tone. Thanks for stopping by! Good luck!
