I saw Stewart at the Nixon theater at 52nd & Market St in Philadelphia back in1968 I was 12. He was a great Talent................

I remember listening to Billy Stewart as a child. My father used to play his albums and dance with me. The music of this era shaped me into the poet and lover of real music that I am today. Its very sad today's generation has no idea who paved the way. & I am just 31 years old.

This is my cousin Billy Stewart from Wash, DC. Billy was a Chess Recording artist in the 50's and 60's and was discovered by Bo Diddly, and his uncle Calvin (Hound Dog) Ruffin. Billy wrote and recording the 60's hits "I Do Love You" & "Sitting In The Park" and this sweet joint "Cross My Heart". Billy died in 1970 when his vehicle plundged into the Neuce River in NC along with 3 of his band members. I am proud of my Family's Music History-Recording Artist Dane Riley

Drawer droppin' music, I miss the days when the lyrics really meant something.

I ( David Henderson-bass player) had the great experience to play behind Billy on the road as part of his band. I left a few months before his unfortunate accident. He was an awesome entertainer. I along with my fellow writers (David Scott, Warren Hagood II, and Sidney Pinchback), wrote this song especially for Billy.
