This movie is one of my older movies and shows the evolution of a cluster of 100 galaxies. The white particles are the luminous cores of the galaxies, and the red particles are the dark matter halos of the galaxies. The duration of the simulation covers 16 gigayears (billion years). The field of view is roughly a megaparsec (3.26 million lightyears). Due to dynamical friction and galactic interactions, the largest galaxies fall to the center of the cluster to form a dominant central galaxy through merging. The cluster-wide dark matter is not shown in this animation.
This movie along with other simulations can be found at http://rberring.iweb.bsu.edu/animations.html
I am glad you enjoyed the video. If you liked this one, there is a good chance that you will enjoy the other videos I have posted on my channel.
