Haha yeah you certainly need to have a tuba kinda body. But Euph is rather hefty, at least the euphs I've played.

I Play Euphonium/Baritone...I thought the tuba was a little too big...:)

Yep, I used to play the sousaphone for that highs school. I graduated last year though, which really sucked, because the brass line was pretty tight.

Big Tubas! Nice!

From what i can hear on this recording, there are definitely some problems with starts and stops. The beginning of notes sound like popcorn, too many people dont have a good total understanding where they are supposed to breath and play.
Also, major intonation problems. This can be fixed by breathing exercises. If they learn to support the note, it will come out in tune.
I can give you some more pointers if you would like. Just send me a message.
Regards.

Hey Rhapsody, sorry I didn't get to this early.
Most of the hornline was brand new at the beginning of the season. We had lost a good portion of our vets, and a couple of the people in the line were also converts from another section (woodwind, etc.)
Most of these problems tend to replicate around the first part of the season, especially with this hornline.
Thanks for all the advice and notes though. If I had any authority over the hornline, I'd definitely share this with them.

Talk to your director, doesn't anyone have DCI/Brass experience? Some words of advice: in the horn arc from the director's viewpoint, left to right should be trumpets, mello/horns, tubas, and euphoniums/baritones. I would advise you to follow Rhapsody's suggestion, invest into buying Breathing Gym. Got potential, just need the right tools to make it successful.

Actually yes... Most of the marching band staff is comprised of Blue Devils alumni, and most of them do staff for BDB and other corps.
The arc is actually correct. You'll see trumpets on the left, followed by mellos, sousaphones, baritones and euphs. I don't really point it at the right side of the arc much in this video.

I'm just an alumni from this band, if I really had any say, I would share it with the director and the line. But this happens at the beginning of every year, and the line will eventually sound better by the end of the season. If/when I get a chance, I'll take a new video of the line.
Your comments are much appreciated. Thank you.
