I am recommending to go out and get drunk. I am only stating what is written in the Quran and not recommending to go out and rampage the town with intoxication. I don't wish either the Mullah or a Murabbi sending assassins to straighten me out.

Prof S was not a devout religious person. I was one of his many students whom he helped. Did he drink Whisky? Yes, he did. So did a lot of Muslims. Quranic term in alBaqara 2:219 & Maida 5:90 mentions ﺍﻠﺨﻤﺮ (Fermentation) not ﺍﻠﻤﻘﻄﺮ (distillation). Alcohol in Arabic mean the very finely ground carbon used as eye-liner. Neither the ﺍﻠﺨﻤﺮ nor ﺍﻠﻤﻘﻄﺮ have been declared Haram. The word is Fajtanebu (avoid). In both places it is Khamar and Maiser (gambling), being less conducive: not Forbidden.

Dear all,

This video says Dr. Salaam drank and had two wives. So what?

Dr. Salaam was a physicist and not an Ayatullah or worse a Khalifah.

Let him be remembered as a great physicist. It doesn't matter what his firqah was, or religion he practiced, or wives he had.

He was a great a Pakistani and we should remember him, and cherish his memory. It is time for us Pakistanis to love each other regardless of our ethnicity and religious background.
