After a year of wrestling with the tech behind this project, I finally got the video together.

Thanks for the compliments guys, or, at least those of you who aren't arguing about whether his is Hella or Mars Volta.
This video is a still a sore spot with me. I had much more complex ideas, and a narrative, and even characters. This is an old render I found of one of the characters that I had built in 3d. He's in T-pose, which is a pose you use to bind characters to 'skeletons' for animation.

I made the mistake of eating heaps of acid then listening to this album. Now I love this band too much. Oh wait, no such thing! :D (Seriously, I was flying through a cardboard cut out arctic glacier on a Z. Hill powered rocket sled, ice roostering with every hit while guitar lines wormed in and out of knotholes in a tree. Pretty good!) The album cover made a lot of sense too. Peace.

As far as comparisons to the Mars Volta, a famous Hungarian composer, Belá Bartók, once said that everyone has roots in the art of some former time. It reminds me when Deloused in the Comatorium was released, many compared the Mars Volta to sounding a lot like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

those saying it sounds like the mars volta...its very different to me. maybe earlier mars volta, but from frances up to bedlam TMV's music has a certain humor about it that i don't hear in this song. and they've never been quite as spazzy, except as the omar rodriguez-lopez group a few times (they're practically the same thing, read omar interviews). btw i love that "truckin" is in the related vids lol i actually love the grateful dead.
