Never knew that was the source of this tune. Hooray for Youtube.
And it's fascinating that nothing changed within the bank, only the perception offered by this new commercial by Riney, and people cam "in swarms." The power of perception. Scary.

If you grab some Malbroro, and some caramel, then push them together, that's what Hal Riney's voice sounds like.

@Doral4720 Sadly true.

Hal Riney was a true genius that knew that to sell a product you have to relate to people in a meaningful way. Unfortunately, today's advertising has forgotten that. RIP, Hal!

Nobody writes songs like Paul Williams. A talent that deserves so much more credit than he ever got....the guy is a genius.

@waitinonden I find it interesting the idealization of art. People want art to be a pure thing that is separate from its commercial interests. As if creating art should occur in a vacuum and not 'sell out to corporate interests" And then here is Paul Williams creating a beautiful song, that captured the hopes and dreams of a generation for the purpose of getting new clientele for a bank.

@mesmith26 Most of the "masters" of fine art had clients that would be considered "corporate interests" to modern scholars. Rembrandt and Michaelangelo (whose "clients" included the Medici family) come to mind.

@micmac99 Agreed 100% without these 'benefactors' most West Art would never exist. That is why I find it interesting when people get mad at artists 'selling out'....
