Metallica - Ride the Lightning (solo)

The audio layers (background pieces, solos, etc.) are recorded using a multi-track recorder (Korg d32xd). After all of the audio is done, I use a video camera to "lipsync" all of the different audio layers (i.e. hit the play button on my recorder and play along with the song as the video records). Once I have all of the different media pieces (the song + 3 video recordings), I just take it all into Adobe Premiere and match up the audio from the 4 different layers so everything is in sync.

What software and hardware do you use to record your videos? I want to start recording too with multiple layers but I don't know what I should use. Do you just record the audio with your camera or do you have an extra microphone for example.
