Another Catholic news source is reporting that there is reason to believe Dolan will be made Cardinal in October. Realcatholictv: would you be able to confirm or deny this information? I pray it does not come to pass.

Archbishop Dolan is a good man. You are misguided in smearing him. it is not possible for him to know all the details of everything in New York City. If you want to help him out find some actual information and share it with him - in other words do his leg work for him - don't smear him.

And why should we have to do the leg work for him? He KNOWS that goes on at that parish - he told them not to march in the parade and they defied the spirit of his instructions. So, why is he tacitly accepting them?

Good men don't stay silent - unless they want evil to happen. Burke said something similar to that.

@RealCatholicTV Archbishop Dolan is a good man and a good bishop who has appeared on EWTN. If he made a mistake i am confident it was based on a lack of information or else bad information. If you prefer to criticize him publicly instead of privately that's your call. If you don't want to help him out with gathering information and prefer to criticize him publicly that's your call too. I stand by the bishop, not you. Ask pointed questions, but publicly criticizing a good bishop is misguided

So what if he appeared on EWTN? He ALSO appeared at a Mass where a pro-gay group was honored and has supported them. He has issued a statement which is at odds with his previous condemnation of them.

We HAVE gathered information - info he already had! He doesn't need our help to do the right thing - he just needs to do it. He's not.

In the protestant service that AB Dolan presided over, the groups were introduced to him as, "The catholic lesbian group and our gay catholic mens group" which "help LGBT catholics return to the sacraments" LGBT! These are "lifeSTYLES" not "attractions"! There can be no such thing as a LGBT Catholic! 1 John 2:3 "And by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

I think Dolan is playing with fire here, but I think he is a skilled politician.

That is, SFX at least gets homos a proximate view to the Sacraments. We can hope and pray that it catches and gives them a deeper, more perfected sense of Catholicism.

I really don't know. Part of me says "Anything to get them in the rooms" , and part of me says - "They are nothing but an insoluble, whiny, selfish, loudmouthed demanding problem - let's not bother!"

Good point, 1600ny. We must not forget that Egan and Dolan walked hand in hand into SFX. Is urbanh196398105 going to tell us that Egan had no idea what was going on during his tenure in NY? One can readily see the implausibility of that stance. God save the Church from such such as they.

Urban It's always disturbing when a Bishop reveals himself to be, ahem, less than faithful to the teachings of the CC, but it helps no one to make ridiculous excuses for him. Dolan is the AB of NY. It is his JOB to know his parishes. SFX's promotion of the active gay lifestyle is in its very identity. Have you not looked at their site? Dolan knew what was happening that day - as did his predecessor Egan who told us that this is one of the "great, great parishes of the world." Open your eyes

The reason our Church is in such a state of confusion is the Bishops have failed to guide the sheep and protect the truth. They have become CEO's rather than sheppards of the flock. The Bishops and all of us will answer to God in the next life, but the bishops answer to no one in this life. The Bishop should respond to this video not urbanh. Where is he? It's time the truth be told and the wolves exposed. The best way for evil to triumph is for good people to say nothing and do nothing.

FYI. A bishop's words, actions, mind, and spirit must be in conformity with Holy Mother Church, Her teachings, and Her Pope. How do you watch the video and claim that Dolan meets that criteria?

By trying to misconstrue what is clearly on the video (showing Dolan's OWN WORDS AND ACTIONS) you thereby expose YOUR OWN knowledge that Dolan is guilty of scandalous behavior.

Why are you bending over backwards to ignore facts? This is a well-known, longstanding, actively gay parish. Zwilling et. al. would be WELL AWARE of this. If by your wildest imagination Dolan didn't know, he should be removed for extreme incompetence and Zwilling should be fired. Had Dolan been hoodwinked, he should be shouting from the pulpit in St. Patrick's that this parish will be shut down and that he personally condemns its activities. How do you explain his lack of outrage? You can't.
