When Brooklands was built and after, a number of underground areas were constructed. This particular one was built under the north banking and was sealed up when the hanger above it was removed. These tunnels were often used for shelter during the war years, by the people working in the aircraft factories.

A group of us entered the sealed off tunnel, on the 16 January 1991. The team included the F1 Legend DSJ (Denis Sargent Jenkinson) Author, Journalist, Racing Driver and the man who won the 1955 Mille Miglia with Moss.I hope those of you who also had the honour of knowing, him will enjoy seeing him in this Clip.

The tunnel itself was resealed and has subsequently become overgrown.

  • @andysvideo who re sealed them

  • Great video, would have loved to been there when you first got in.

  • My Father was a carpenter at Vickers during the war, and in the Home Guard there. I only know of one actual raid that hit the Machine shop. I was an apprentice in the Club House '64 to '67 not far from this shelter. See my Dad in my VC 10 video on Youtube. Thanks
