Using a mini grinder and zipcut blade to cut sheet metal. Cut while moving forward lets you see the line clearly. Hearing protection, eye protection and a steady hand helps. Smaller pieces should be clamped down.

  • @Janigut That a good way too - I've done it that way myself.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I just clamp a straight piece of wood right aside the line where i want to cut and then I make a small line with the grinder first, remove the wood and then i cut through the metal. And I go through the line fore and back. So the blade lasts longer.

    Sorry for my bad english.

  • @shaneoca Oh, I'm definitely wearing eye protection (and hearing protection) - you are confusing me with someone slightly less sensible, I think.

Regarding the guard and the point of this video, see the comment posted previously.

Wearing gloves with any rotating tool is a danger onto itself. I don't need them, but if you want to, you are free to wear them.

    Thanks for watching.

  • No guard? No gloves? I'll bet you weren't wearing eye protection either. But it's never happened yet...

  • @HARodr1guez What do they say on TV? "Guard removed for photographic clarity"... Not the case here though. The reason for the video was to show how to cut a straight line, not the safe way to use a grinder (safest if you don't use one at all). Fact is, I never use a guard for zipcut blades and I've gone through hundreds of these disks without incident. But, with that said, much better to be safe than sorry - use a guard.

  • That's how not to use an abrasive cutting wheel folks. ALWAYS USE A GUARD, IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE, OR AT THE VERY LEAST SAVE YOU FROM AN INJURY!!!!!
