@inkey2 correct.....there were no jewels (that I can ever remember seeing) inside a mechanical timex. They were pretty crude looking movements but built pretty durable. I think even the balance staves were very thick.

I wore analog Timex watches in the 70's and I wear a current Timex Easy Reader analog now and the watches were just as cheap looking/feeling back then as now BUT Timex is a very durable and accurate watch even today.

wow...thats pretty impressive considering it was a "mechanical" watch. Probably has no jewels in the movement to break. And the staff did not break either. They made them pretty good back then

I love it when Jeff Dunham referenced Timex watches in his "Spark of Insanity" Tour. Rofl "It takes a lickin' and keeps on ticking".

they used to make timex better in these days, the newer ones feel cheap(lower quality) than from the 70's
Timex is the only watch I've ever owned. Not classy, not expensive, just good stuff.
