There are a lot of good jazz composers and good pop composers but to bring the two together is an accomplished that has eluded many. Their music is miles ahead of most pop/rock bands, it's accessible but if you have any background in music theory you will find them very satisfying to listen to. I guess that's why so many musicians are in to them.There's always so much going on lyrically , harmonically and dynamically .

I liked Steely Dan's sound more with each album. It's interesting how I like this version far more than what appeared on the album because they all just play better now.
