The cap, newspaper and bag gag belonged to Eric Morecambe of Morecambe and Wise, one of Britain's most famous comedy teams. It's good to see Ferguson evoking the spirit of Music Hall humour, that he would have experienced as a child, on a contemporary American Chat Show.

Craig refers to him as "Chris" at the end of the leaky roof episode. He first appeared in that outfit to play the leatherman when they were singing In The Navy, which was perfectly logical- but since then he wears it in every appearence, whether it makes sense or not. I'm guessing the ratings went through the roof the first time, so they decided to keep it up XD
