The reason it seemed so much like Married with Children was that some of the writers/producers had a falling out with the show. So, they made Unhappily ever after.

I used to watch this when I was six/seven. I didn't get it, but Floppy was the only reason I watched it. I would laugh when I would hear the people laugh. I loved the show only because of the catchy song "Hit the Road Jack" and the puppet. Brings back memories, now that I actually understand what Floppy is talking about.
