Directed by homegrown director Eric Khoo, TATSUMI is an animated tribute to the life and work of Japanese comic artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi. The movie held its World Premiere in the 64th Cannes Film Festival earlier in May. It was also in competition under the Un Certain Regard.
@Xamtaro: See the movie before complaining about it.
I thought it was really great! Very mature stories, but real humanity is revealed in them.

I would say the best thing was that it added a new dimension to my appreciation of Tatsumi and his work, and gave me a fresh perspective.

@Xamtaro I was a little turned off too by the trailer's stilted animation, but when I actually watched the film, barely noticed it at all. Khoo's portrayal of both the artist and his art was tender, respectful, and faithful to the source material, overall beautifully made, and in retrospect I think the choppy animation style actually worked quite well with the story.

A tribute to a great manga artist deserves better than this. Seriously, this looks no better than fan-made flash animation by students. Tatsumi deserves better.
