seeing this was awesome!! dana, leslie, and i stood there for at least 30-45 minutes watching them make manju.

I´m quite certain that what they´re making is Mochi, a typical dessert that japanese make near the end of the year, Manju are steamed cakes.
But this video is a great contribution, thanks n_n

@FunkyGerl02 they make those noises to keep the rhythm so they won't smash down at the same time, and so thewy wont hit someones hand (it is a guess)

fascinating . why do the have to make the sound ? the dough looks nice, are they making mochi or manju ? haha . i guess Japanese people are healthy , see they have to exercise befre the get to eat !

manju is basically first prepared like mochi, however, unlike mochi, flour and buckwheat are added to the 'dough'.
