In this video we cover the things one of our staffer/racers did to prep his Yamaha R-6. This is Part 2 of a multi-part series. Think of this as an overview to get you started and give you some ideas for your own project.

We cover the following in this video:
Safety wire points - K&N filter with safety wire points
Types of coolant for the track - Waterwetter, Engine Ice and 7th Gear PG
Radiator protection - Cox Radiator Guard

The concept here is to give you an idea of what we have done to prepare our bikes for the track. There is a ton to cover and it took three videos to do this on Eddie's R6.

Part 1 covers bodywork, clip ons, levers, electronics, rearsets and steering damper.

Part 3 covers suspension, exhaust, chain/sprockets and brakes.

  • great videos!

  • @Klesk4000 Thank you!

  • i have a question and it might sound stupid: does it worth buying a preowned bike or should i wait till i have enough money for a new one?

    thanks

  • @kopaszQ Not a stupid question at all. Some of the best race bikes begin as a used bike or even a salvage title bike. Myself both of my 2008 R6's that I will run in the AMA this season were used when I picked them up last year. With a little elbow grease you can make a used bike basically as good as a new one.
