Hey that was good, I'd like to travel to Romania eventually as I've heard it's the hitchhikers capitol of Europe. Could it also be, that individuals driving the old cars you mentioned are traditionalists, as it's traditional to hitchhike in Romania? Perhaps they appreciate seeing foreigners share their old ways.
