  • To join the Canadian Forces, you must meet the following minimal conditions:

    -be a Canadian citizen;

    -be at least 17 years of age (16 for the Reserves and Military College) -with parental/guardian consent for minors;

    -have successfully completed Grade 10 (Sec III in Quebec);

    -some entry programs have additional academic prerequisites.

    If you have more questions about the recruiting process, please contact Canadian Forces Recruiting: forces.ca/en/page/contactus-73

  • I have a question. Say i apply to join the reserves in sudbury, Ontario(2nd irish regiment) ,does that mean i would have to go to st jean for training?

  • @paintballlwars28 The reserves have training at various locations. Please contact your local recruiting office to find out which location is applicable for your desired regiment.

  • who is MCpl Darrell J Priede?

  • @65016792 MCpl Priede was an image tech and a former member of the Army News Team at CFB Gagetown before deploying to Afghanistan early in 2007 as one of two image techs working in their Public Information Office. He wanted to show Canadians the hard work and accomplishments of their soldiers. Regrettably, after being in Afghanistan for a little over a month, he was killed along with five American soldiers and one British soldier in a helicopter crash.

  • Just wondering, how long ago was this season filmed? I've noticed that some kit are pretty old

  • @Oneshot112 Basic Up Reloaded was filmed in 2005 and 2006.

  • I wouldn't admit to being in cadets for 7 years haha

  • Wow, a 49 y.o. can join up in Canada? That guy's got some stones. I'm 43 and there's no way I could repeat what I did in USAF Basic Military Training years ago...these Canadian troops are good to go...

  • @asr12388 why?

  • Can you switch from the reserves to the regular force?

  • I was just on the website (and are my eyes decieving me, or is there NO recruiting office in Winnipeg?

  • @facetha actully your wrong on one point, taxpayers cover the travel expenses wages, etc. encurred while at CFLRS

  • @Cybergeron89 You have to understand that they are saying to you or they will just scream it louder until you do.... this is experience talking here. Just go to your local recruiting office and talk with the recruiters they will be able to help make your choice of either joining now or latter when you feel that you are more fluent in English

  • @NamoArts If I can suggest try to go reservist (for the environment that you want [Navy, Air force or Army] and finish your high school, once you are finish with your high school you can transfer to the Reg Force.

    Believe me this can help you in your military Career as it can open more possibility for training and a better your chances of getting your first choice of career. Also by joining the reserve you may get up to a 180 days less to wait to be promoted to Corporal/Leading Seamen

  • If my English is a second language and have a poor vocab, would i have trouble understanding what they (instructors) r saying?

  • im in grade 11 ( im 17 turning 18 in may ) and i wanna join the Canadian Forces , i was called retarded for wanting to join without finishing highschool? ... but i wanna join cause its been my dream since i as 4 years old and i need to change my life cause im lacking alot and i dont wanna work at some store or office i want to be doing something that not everyone can do or has done . and i wanna make my family proud. and so i would be thankful if someone gave me some tips ?

  • @unknownDJ1000

    I believe they test you on this during the medical test. It may limit the trades that you can apply for. (I think I read somewhere for field artillery you need to distinguish the colors labeled on different artillery shells.) It all depends on what you apply for. I haven't been through the medical yet so I'm not entirely sure. Go talk to a recruiter. Good luck.
