Im haitian & I grew up with alot of hair! & i still have dat afro. i remembered everytime when i was little, i hated gettn my hair washed. it was too much to handle, 6th grade my mom started to straighten my hair, and still no results, one thing i hate is when ppl tell me to straighten my hair, when it just cant get no straighter then it already is. i use to hate my hair. im told to get a relaxer, but as of now, im proud of the type of hair that i have. the natural black hair will stay.

@mexicankunggpao In my opinion its easier to take care of natural hair then Relaxed hair but black woman are not giving them sleeves that chance to entertain the idea.

I'm part Haitian I can understand creole but I never speak it and I can't write in creole either but she used to say that girls shouldn't have tete gren (however it's spelled) hair. So for now I'm going back to using pomade, braiding it, and using hair ties in my hair. I wish she didn't relax my hair for my first communion in the 2nd grade.
I stopped relaxing my hair almost for two years now. I was doing a lot of stuff to damage it like using shampoos with sulfate such as Suave and relaxing it all the time. I cut my hair and it was the hardest thing I have ever have to do because I've always had long hair and one day I looked in the mirror and saw how damaged my hair was and I decided to chop it shoulder length. My mom told me that girls were meant to have long nice hair.

@strawberriesncandii Your mother sound like my mother lol with that comment. But it grows all back. Having long hair doesnt do anything if your hair is totally damage. My hair has pretty much grown back after a year I cant wait to go home and show my mother my hair in boy short cut and show her how long it is now. Her mouth is going to drop. But then again my hair has always grew.
