  • One of the best dancers in America dancing with the biggest child star of the era in a historical fiction is racist? Sorry, that's some serious b.s. Bojangles Robinson was a hero and inspiration to millons both black and white and he still inspires absolute respect and admiration 75 years later. I only wish Robinson and Astair had worked for the same studio so we could have seen them together.

  • Hi. Thanks very much for your comments. I'm very pleased you liked it. Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and Fred Astaire in the same movie, together? Wow, that would have been incredible! Well, with the computer technology they have these days, nothing is impossible. I heard a while back that they could make a new movie with Humphrey Bogart in it and it would be so real, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

  • I love this so. It is beautiful and as soon as I saw it I thought, "someone is gonna call this racist" Sure enough! That is the way things were then, and this WAS the beginning of African Americans being in movies. I bet Shirley Temple was not disrespectful to Bill Robinson. I have read that she loved him, and it shows! Go Shirley! Thanks for posting!

  • I grew up watching and loving Shirley Temple movies and so did our kids. I love this one in particular because of this sequence. We will never see this kind of genius again and I think it is a very special gift to all of us to see two of the most talented people in entertainment history, in the same movie together. You can tell how much Shirley loved and respected Bill by the way she looks at him and I'm sure Bill felt the same way about Shirley.

  • It was a dark day in the world of dance when Bojangles passed. Thankfully, he's kept alive in this adorable clip with Shirley.

  • This makes me wanna learn

  • I'm posting this on my Facebook page. This is what I call real dancing. I agree can you see Fred Astaire and Bojangles in a movie together.

  • I like that! It's too cute.

  • that's so cute

  • @channelschmannel1 Astaire and Robinson together would have been incredible! And I know that Astaire would have loved to do it; he cited Bill Robinson as a big inspiration to him. He even made a tribute number to him in the movie, Swing Time called "Bojangles of Harlem". *sigh* If only. ;)

And a computerization of the two together would not be the same, you can't recreate the souls or genius of Astaire and Robinson and what they might have created together. They were one in a million. :)

  • so cute!

  • @jobrien123456789 wow dude... WOW. Its sad when something this innocent as seen as racist... I say again sir. wow.

  • Surely the best way to go upstairs. I shall practice it. ;o)
