Sognefjellsvegen National tourist road

Sognefjellet - perhaps the most impressive mountain pass in Northern Europe! Experience the majestic scenery on the roof of Norway, close to the Jotunheimen National Park in the south and Breheimen in the north. High in the mountains along the blue ice, in the majestic landscape of jagged peaks and emerald green water. Sognefjellsvegen meanders between the world's longest fjord - the Sognefjord and Gudbrandsdalen-through dramatic mountainous landscape with jagged peaks and massive glaciers. The road was in 1997's status as the first tourist route in Norway, and was completed upgraded as a national tourist route in 2003. Norway's highest mountain pass (1434 m) was opened as a road in 1938.
