The Tan Son Nhut C-5 accident refers to the 4 April 1975 crash of 68-0218, a Lockheed C-5A Galaxy participating in Operation Babylift, which crashed on approach to an emergency landing at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Vietnam. The cause was ascribed to loss of flight control due to explosive decompression and structural failure. The incident marked the second operational loss and first fatal crash for the C-5 Galaxy fleet. It is also the deadliest accident involving a US military aircraft.

  • I am watching a marathon of your vids here, and it seems that there is ALWAYS a problem with the cargo door. Like so far 7 episodes from the beginning of the series imply the same problem.

  • Thank You

  • "operation "babylift" rofl

    more like operation Public Relations.

  • US stole vietnamese babies.

  • 12 mins into vid, wait so the cargo department and the passenger department share the same pressurized air on the c5? it would be better if they were seperate

  • thats a BIGG ass plane to be having a crash

  • I don't mean any disrespect for the flight crew. Shouldn't the crash have been avoided if the plane was landed on first touch down?

  • Must.... not.... cry..... That last part was very touching..

  • @blondecat666 NO The MOST DANGEROUS thing is to have REALLY EXPERIENCED PILOTS. It's amazing how many of these have "one of the most experienced pilots or crews n the airline" Obviously a major bad luck factor - experienced pilots

  • -=-=-===--=======_++++++

  • I was 8 yrs old and we were stationed at Clark AFB when this went down. We volintered at the freedom hotel @ Clark to take care of the suvivors and others. I will never forget it!
