This is footage I shot while a contractor with the National Guard. It highlights specific points during the training of a recruit in Basic Training. All military Basic Training vids are tamer than the Brochures themselves. They suck .

@timefornightnight Interesting comment....there is a good reason for that...The military doesn't want to portray any kind of grittiness to being in the military. They want common scenes so that you don't get too scared into joining. After all you may end up in Afghanistan getting shot at. The only place to get that true grit is in the service or in the movies. I can't tell you how many recruiters ask all the time for more gritty style recruiting videos, but don't get them.

@LittleCbHawk Many reasons.

One reason is because although sexism has mostly vanished, the culture of the US military is still mostly male based.

Another reason is the women themselves. Most women in this day and age are still homemakers. Therefore, it mostly falls to the men to take up arms.

@HKS89 They are half size human body targets used for potential soldiers to aim while tossing grenade simulators....boom!
