In June of 2009, Sarina Condello and her Big Little Caravan of Joy brought to the children of South Africa a creative experience that reflected the joy of the circus, the beauty of art making and the fun of childhood play. Composed of circus performers, dancers, musicians and volunteers, this caravan inspired and excited hundreds of underprivileged orphans from Noah's organization located in Durban. Traveling throughout the rural regions and townships of the area and working for Noah's with the help of Circus Remedy, Sarina's Big Little Caravan of Joy, the team created a cultural cohesion in performance and celebration. Alongside South African performing musical artists Sibonile Ngubane and Sthembiso Hlela and circus performers Busi Biyela and Bongiwe Mabuya the team created 3 shows with casts between 50 and 100 children. Imagine a summer creative arts camp designed for the underprivileged children of Africa. Imagine a camp that not only unleashes a childs creative spirit but also brings about a cohesive sense of community through teacher and artist education, performance-celebrations and creative expression. Imagine children, for the first time in their lives, laughing, playing, dancing, singing and creating together. Imagine it now and help make it happen!
