The Alberta government has slashed $80 million from the 2009-10 education budget and is preparing to cut $340 million more in 2010-11. Visit http://www.stopthecuts.ca to learn more and to tell your MLA and Premier Stelmach to Stop The Cuts.
Cute but the real thing being erased is conversation with a real live teacher. The Alberta government is actually in love with computer based courses, computer marked exams and would apparently like to replace and depersonalize teacher-led instruction anyway. Why? Cost. The Alberta 'advantage' is apparently to not only get schools to do more with less and ultimately everything with nothing but to have less staff, bigger classes, less discussion. People are first to go, then equipment
